Brazilian artist Henrique Oliveira’s incredible installations look like giant overgrown tumors or roots that are slowly taking over the spaces they inhabit breaking through doors, walls, floors, and ceilings. Created out of splintered and discarded plywood Oliveira’s creations look like three dimensional wooden patchwork quilts that are taking over every nook and cranny they can, never stopping to ask for permission or directions.

WHOA-LGERS Milwaukee-based photographer Jack Long uses high-speed photography to capture the moment splashes are made in cups of coffee. He won’t reveal exactly how his technique works, except to say that the technique employs “short-duration flash lighting.” And perhaps not using decaf. A cluster of neural cells were derived from human embryonic stem cells in the lab of University of Wisconsin-Madison stem cell researcher and neurodevelopmental biologist Su-Chun Zhang.
